Enhancing Security for Your Accounting Portal Account
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an essential feature of your accounting portal, significantly enhancing the security of your account. It requires two forms of verification: your login credentials and a unique verification code. This process safeguards against unauthorized access. Here's how to set up and manage your 2FA:
Setting Up Your 2FA Verification
To activate 2FA during account setup:
- Refer to the "Activate Your Account" guide, specifically step number 5, for detailed instructions on setting up 2FA using either an authenticator app or SMS text messaging.
Changing Your 2FA Verification Method
You can switch between the Authenticator App and Text Message methods as needed.
Change From Authenticator App to Text Message:
- Click your profile picture in the top right corner of the portal.
- Select "Profile" from the dropdown list.
- In the "Security Details" section, note the current 2FA method.
- Click the "Change" button.
- Enter your phone number in the field provided.
- Click "Confirm" and enter the verification code sent to your phone.
- Click "Confirm" again to complete the change.
Change From Text Message to Authenticator App:
- Access your profile from the portal's top right corner.
- Select "Profile" from the dropdown menu.
- Go to the "Security Details" section.
- Click "Change" and open the authenticator app on your phone.
- If you don't have an authenticator app, download one from your phone’s app store.
- Set up the app according to its instructions.
- Click "Confirm" and enter the verification code from your app.
- Click "Confirm Code" to finalize the change.
Troubleshooting 2FA Verification Issues
For Text Message Verification Code Issues:
- If you don't receive your code or it fails to work:
- In the "Verification Code" window during login, select "Resend".
- Check your phone's text messages for the new code.
- Copy and paste the code into the portal's verification field.
- Click "Complete Login".
- Contact your accounting firm for further assistance if needed.
For Authenticator App Verification Code Issues:
- If you can't receive or use your verification code:
- Reach out to your accounting firm for support in resetting your 2FA.
